Land’s Edge

Safety Standards

At Land’s Edge, safety is our top priority, and our Safety Management System sets the benchmark for the outdoor education industry.

Seeking the highest standard of safety auditing, we turned to New Zealand, where a rigorous process developed by the NZ outdoor industry and government aligned with ISO 21101 Adventure Tourism standards. We are proud to have passed this comprehensive review with flying colours, resulting in an updated Safety Management System and Safety Management Plan that ensures a robust foundation for years to come.

Our Safety Management System is implemented across every program and activity, ensuring adherence by all Land’s Edge staff and participants. To maintain these high standards, all safety documentation undergoes an annual internal review and an external independent audit every three years. Importantly we then commit time and resources to ensure that our field practices mirror our risk management documentation - that we do what we say.

Risk Management Documentation Includes:

  • LEF Safety Management Plan

  • LEF Coordinator and Group Leader Standard Operating Procedures

  • LEF Activity-Specific Standard Operating Procedures

  • LEF Activity-Specific Risk Management Matrix

  • LEF Child Protection and Safety Policy

  • LEF Emergency Management Plan
